It is a county of Romania located in Transylvania. It was established in 1968 by the territorial reorganization of the regions of Cluj, Hunedoara, Brasov and Mures-Autonoma Maghiara (from Alba Iulia, Sebes, Campeni, Aiud and certain parts of the districts of Tarnaveni and Medias). Most of today's county was part of Alba and Sibiu (interwar) counties, Alba de Jos and Sibiu counties (pre-war), respectively from the Aries Szekler Chair and the Sebes Saxon Chair. From the point of view of the traditional culture, the present county is made up of parts of different ethno-folkloric areas: Motilor country, Mokan country, Szeklerland and Creeping Earth. The county seat is Alba Iulia with 63,536 inhabitants. The county has an area of ​​6,242 km² and a population of 342,376 inhabitants. It borders the Cluj and Mures counties in the north, Sibiu to the east, Hunedoara to the southwest, Valcea to the south and Arad and Bihor to the northwest.

Alba Carolina FortressAlba Carolina Fortress is a Vauban fortress built at the beginning of the 18th century in the medieval town of Alba Iulia on the Citadel Hill, having the role of a strategic fortification of the Habsburg Empire against the military efforts of the Ottoman Empire and the consolidation of the Habsburg power Locally. The project's instigator was Marshal Prince Eugene of Savoy, who introduced the Vauban fortifications in France during King Louis XIV in the Habsburg Empire. The ensemble was part of a wider system of fortified points designed to defeat the new conquered provinces. Roman Catholic Cathedral St. MichaelRoman Catholic Cathedral St. Michael, located inside the Alba Iulia fortress, is the most valuable monument of Romanic architecture in Transylvania. Lacasul has two records: it is the oldest and also the longest cathedral in Romania. The construction of the cathedral began in the 11th century, probably by the year 1009, with the founding of the Transylvanian Bishopric by King Stephen I of Hungary. In the middle of the 12th century the transverse vessels of the cathedral were erected. Lacasus was partially destroyed by the great Tatar invasion in 1242. Obelisk of Horea, Closca and CrisanObelisk of Horea, Closca and Crisan from Alba Iulia is located on Mihai Viteazul Street, in front of the third gate of Alba Carolina. It was built in 1937 at the initiative of ASTRA Society, with the contribution of the population, being dedicated to the memory of the leaders of the revolt from 1784-1785, led by Horea, Closca and Crisan. The Obelisk, erected in just a few months, was inaugurated in the presence of King Carol II of Romania and Mihai, voivode of Alba Iulia on 14 October 1937. The 22.5 meter monument is the work of sculptor Iosif Fekete, also known as Iosif Fekete Negrulea, and the architect Octavian Mihaltan. Inside the socket that supports the obelisk there is a symbolic cell with the inscription: Smerita worship of Horea, Closca and Crisan, in the east, a winged Victory holding a crown of laurels, and in the west a bas-relief representing Horea, Closca and Crisan.Obelisk of Horea, Closca and Crisan
The Coronation CathedralThe Coronation Cathedral in Alba Iulia, dedicated to the Holy Trinity, was built with the support of the Royal House of Romania, according to the plans of the architect Victor Stefanescu. The works were begun on 28 March 1921 and were completed in mid-September 1922, on 8 October, where the dedication and reception of the Feast of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel was celebrated in memory of the first Romanian integrator and patron of the event. Since 1975 the place serves as the cathedral of the Orthodox Episcopate of Alba Iulia. The Monastery -The Great Martyr Dimitrie-

The Monastery - The Great Martyr Dimitrie - The Sprinkler - is located at the entrance to Dumbrava, Alba County. Access is from the European road E81 between Alba Iulia-Cluj Napoca. The monastery is named by the locals and - the football men's ministry - because the national footballers trained by Anghel Iordanescu made important donations to raise the holy place. The foundation stone was laid on Oct. 26. 1996 by Andrew of Alba-Iulia at the initiative of priest parish priest Crisan Teodor, now Archimandrite Vasile, on the place where in 1703 was martyred priest John, a fighter against the union, burned alive in a fan of the head. The monastery is in the shape of a fortress, with the bell to the entrance and the church in the center. The church preserves the traditional Romanian style. The painting of the church is made by Crisan husbands in 2000 in Byzantine style. In the church there is an icon of the Virgin, found under the plaster of the church in the village of Dumbrava, hidden by believers because of the religious persecution of the past.

Within the monastery there is the Children's House - Sf. Veronica - where 30 children aged between 3 months and 16 years live and who have ensured all decent living conditions.

Here is also a House of Elders - SF. Maria - where a number of 20 elderly women and without help are nursed by nuns, making their lives happier and more peaceful.
