Vaslui is the county seat of the county with the same name, Moldova, Romania, consisting of Bahnari, Brodoc, Mora Greci, Rediu, Vaslui (residence) and Viişoara. It is located in eastern Romania, close to the border with the Republic of Moldova.
It is documented in 1375. According to the January 1, 2016 census of the INS, Vasluiul had a population of 97,067 inhabitants. Vaslui Municipality is a member of the Mayors' Convention on Sustainable Local Energy from 2010. It is claimed that the town of Vaslui was founded by the Byzantines, in memory of their passing to the Eastern Dacia and gave it the name Basilica, after the name of Basil the Bulgarocton (Macarie's description on his trip from Aleppo to Moscow).
Academician Victor Spinei showed that the name of the city would come from the Pechenean or Cumanian migrants (10th-12th centuries).
