Flamanzi It is a city in Botosani county, Moldova, Romania, consisting of the localities Flamanzi (residence), Nicolae Balcescu and Poiana, and from the villages of Chitoveni and Prisacani. It is located in the southern part of the county on the middle course of the Miletin River and is bordered by the communes: Copalau, Prajeni, Frumusica, Lunca, Hlipiceni and Plugari. The locality is documented in 1605. On the territory of the locality, however, archaeological vestiges dating from the primitive era are revealed. In 1907, the village was the starting point of the great revolt in Romania, the rebellion of 1907. Flamas was declared a town in 2004 by Law 80/2004, encompassing former villages Flamanzi, Nicolae Balcescu (former Bosanceni) and Poiana Ceased to be considered independent localities. The city administers, as subordinate localities, the villages of Chitoveni and Prisacani. The locality is considered the starting point for the 1907 Race, in memory of which a monument is erected at its center. Documents of this event can be found in the mini-exhibition within the local council as well as at the Botosani Museum and the state archives in Botosani and Iasi, as well as Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iasi.
