Darabani is a town in Botosani County, Moldova, Romania, consisting of the village Darabani (residence), and from the villages of Bajura, Esanca and Lismanita. It is near the triple border Moldova-Romania-Ukraine (north). It is the northernmost city of Romania and has a population of 9,893 inhabitants (2011). Darabani is located in northern Botosani county, being the northernmost city in Romania. The city is situated on a high, northern, Moldavian plateau, in a hilly area with hilly interfluvial hills, in the shape of small low plateaus, between 125 meters (Prut River) and 264 meters (Buleandra Hill). The natural relief was modified in the south of the city by terraces. The city's territory is elongated in the direction of NV-SE. The main streams across the city are Prut River and Podriga River with their tributaries. Vegetation is characteristic of the hilly area. The predominant soils are cambic chernozems.
