The Liteni town is located in the southeastern part of Suceava County, 28 km away from Suceava on the county road 208. It was declared a city by Law 83/2004, along with 7 other localities in Suceava County.
In spite of being promoted from the commune to the town, Liteni is a settlement with a predominantly rural aspect and with general agrarian occupations of the inhabitants. The area of urban influence of the locality over the other settlements around it is almost nonexistent, as Liteni remains in the shadow of the neighboring Dolhasca town, a similar city, which has also acquired this status by Law 83/2004.
Liteni is located in the south-eastern part of Suceava County, at the confluence of the rivers Suceava and Siret. The locality has a small own industry represented by ballasts, textiles, slaughterhouses, dairy factories and others. There are 4 kindergartens, 8 schools and a high school in Liteni (School Group - Iorgu Vârnav Liteanu-). The villages of Liteni include Corni, Roscani, Rotunda, Silistea and Vercicani.
